Is it the Weekend Already?

Is it really Friday? I haven't recovered from all of the festivities of last weekend yet! This week has gone by so fast I haven't even had time to post about last weekend.  We had a great time visiting Laurelwood Plantation and seeing the tremendous amount of restoration and preservation being accomplished. I could hardly believe the transformation of this former slave cabin.

Here are a few pictures from the event held at Laurelwood last weekend.

You can also head over to my Legacy of Laurelwood blog to see more pic's and info.  If you are newly visiting my site, Laurelwood Plantation was home to my Grandparents and to my father and was in our family for almost a century. It is being lovingly restored by its new owners.

We enjoyed the chance to see the renovations up close and personal. Our children always enjoy the chance to visit Laurelwood and have me talk about my childhood memories being at this home. I am so thankful that the new owners are allowing me the opportunity to experience seeing the renovations.

Book Series

I have been reading a very enjoyable book series called Mystery and the Ministers Wife. I recently finished book four of the series and can't wait to get the next book. I can identify with the main character of the book, since I am a minister's wife, but anyone would enjoy reading the series. I have been a bit too busy to enjoy much reading but I am looking forward to summer and school being out so I am making a list of books that I want to read for the summer.  I will be on the lookout for more in this series.

We've been a bit busy lately with activities and events.  Our nephew got married.  He and his gorgeous bride celebrated their wedding on a picture perfect Carolina day! It was beautiful!

Here are 4 of our 5 children waiting for the wedding to begin. The sun was really bright on the lake and we all got a bit sunburned.

College boy wasn't able to make it home this weekend.  The campus band he plays with at NGU were traveling to do an event.  We missed him!
Our beautiful daughters!
We enjoyed the time to be together as a family and celebrate our nephew's marriage.

This past Sunday we had a Youth led service at church.  There was quite a bit of energy in our morning service as the music was led by a team from Appalachian State. Our youth did a phenomenal black light creative movement. Our youth pastor preached the morning message and did a wonderful job, especially after he and his wife had been up most of the weekend leading our youth in a Discipleship Now weekend event.

The highlight for me on Sunday was being surprised by my daughter singing a solo! She was amazing!

It's exciting to see God at work in the lives of our young people at church and in our family.  He has great things in store for us!
