Carry the Light

"This gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in the whole world as a testimony to all the nations, and then the end will come."
Matthew 24:14
My oldest son receiving a Bible from his Grandpa
If you have followed my blog any then you know that my oldest son just graduated from high school and will be headed off to college this fall.  He plans to be a medical missionary! Several weeks ago my in-laws were visiting with us and my father in-law, who is also a minister, presented my son with
his Bible.  You can imagine how thrilled my son was to be the receiver of his Grandpa's Bible. Let's just say,  it's very special.  If you know anything about me, you know that music is playing in my head all the time.  I wake up with a song in my head!!! At the moment when I took this picture I thought about the song "Carry the Light".  It's old so some of your reading this may have never even heard of it.  Click on the link below and listen.  Carry the Light. Go and preach the Gospel in the name of Jesus Christ.  Carry the Light.

Pizza Night

Friday is homemade pizza night at our house.  I use the bread machine to make the pizza crusts and then we load them up with our favorite toppings.  We have found that we can make our own pizza at a fraction of the cost of calling our local pizza delivery chains and we think our pizza is a whole lot tastier!
Wish you were here to have a slice or two!

Fourth of July Cookout

This was what was on the menu today for the fourth of July.

The perfect southern ribs hot off the grill. Along with the perfect grilled burgers.

My husband was proud of the ribs he grilled!
Oldest child loved the ribs!
Child #4 & #5 enjoying the ribs
Child #2 looking forward to digging in!
Both my daughters were laughing and giggling while cleaning the dishes.
We had a great relaxing day.  We enjoyed food and family. Our table time discussion centered around the values that our country was founded on.  We discussed "One nation under God" and what that means and how the culture of today wants to tear that out and remove God from everything.  I love our discussions around the dinner table. We laugh, we sometimes cry, we act silly, we make up crazy songs, we sometimes get mad at each other but mostly we love being a family that loves God and tries to come up with ways that we can make a difference in the world. I think many a family could solve a lot of problems if they would just come back to the table.  Do you know that studies have been done that prove that families who regularly eat together around the table experience children who do better in school and are better communicators along with many other benefits. I just love it when we all are together and we pray and thank God for all the blessings he has given us. Let's come back to the table!
