The first day of December has arrived, rather quickly I might add. Didn't we just pack up Christmas decorations from 2009? Time does have a way of flying by quickly, especially the older we get! But, here we are full swing into Christmas of 2010. We have our tree up and our outside decorations up and a candle in every window.
Yet I haven't wrapped the first gift. They are all hidden in the secret hiding place for gifts, waiting to be wrapped. Shhhh! Don't tell my children or they will be searching all over the house for my secret hiding place. Anyway, I have been thinking about Christmas traditions. There are certain things that we do year after year that help to make the Christmas season special. I will attempt to share some of these traditions as we go through the month of December. But first, I would like to encourage you to read this book by Noel Piper called Treasuring God in Our Traditions. You can even read it right now, FREE and online by heading over to Desiring God.com. and look at online books or click HERE. I think this book is thought provoking and helpful as we consider the traditions that we develop and how to make sure they are God centered.
