Our Full Quiver

How quickly our children grow. It seems as if yesterday I was cuddling them and breathing in the soft baby smells of johnson baby lotion & powder. These days most of my kids are taller than me and I have to hold my nose when I pull the athletic socks out of the dirty laundry hamper to put in the washing machine. How did it happen so quickly?

I had such good intentions when this blog was started. I planned to keep up with it on a regular basis. Life has a way of squeezing out all of me that it can get. Lately I've felt as if I was a tube of toothpaste that has been squeezed, twisted, then finally flattened out & rolled up tight to get every little bit of paste out. Have you ever felt like that?

I am way behind on posts and things that have happened since my last post. I'm not sure if I should try to catch up or start over. While I ponder about that here are my Thanksgiving reflections. I cooked a turkey this year and we had thanksgiving at home. Normally we would spend Thanksgiving with my in-laws ( My mother in-law makes the absolute best dressing!!!!!!), but this year we decided to get my Mom from the nursing home and have her for the day. She enjoyed it so much & I was so thankful and grateful that she was with us. She has had some major health issues in recent years and we've almost lost her several times, but she is an incredible woman with amazing determination and an unwavering faith in God. We thank God that she is improving and doing well. Here are some photos from Thanksgiving.

Here I am with my Mom.

the Turkey before

The Turkey after.

It wasn't long after the meal when, you guessed it, everybody started to get drowsy. My hubby nodded off first. So while he was sleeping the kids and I decided a little fun Thanksgiving glee was needed to wake everybody up.

We had just the idea of what to do when memaw said she needed some cool whip on her sweet potato pie.

Chilly morning on the Football field!

I had to take a picture of the score board because we rarely see the final score with our team winning! Way to go boys!!!!

My middle school daughter's cheer squad had to cheer for an early morning game. I grumbled about having to get up early on a saturday morning (and a cold one at that) but it was worth it! Our team won and it was a good finish for the football season!!!

Friends and Fall Festivities!

We live in a great neighborhood. We moved here 6 years ago and before that time we never went "Trick or Treating" with our children. We would let them dress up in a non-scary costume and attend a church fall festival but we didn't live in an area where they could go door to door and trick or treat. When we moved here some of the families in our church that had young children invited us to trick or treat with them in our neighborhood and we have been doing it ever since. We all met at a friends house and had grilled hot dogs & homemade chili. Then went trick or treating and ended with a bonfire to roast marshmallows.

Frost on the Pumpkin

There was frost on the pumpkins in my neck of the woods this morning! And speaking of pumpkins, I just have to share this picture I took of a serving of pumpkin crunch that I made. This recipe is so easy and soooooo good. I'll post it as soon as I can find it. In the meantime enjoy the picture.

[trick+or+treat.jpg]

Here's my crazy hubby looking like a wild man! Who would have thought that a date night out with a gift certificate to pay the bill would have caused this change in behavior!

Date night!!!! My husband and I actually had a date tonight and used a gift certificate that I won. We ate at Texas Roadhouse and it was delicious!

You never know who you are going to run into when you are out and about doing your daily activities. Today, while waiting in line at the pharmacy I was standing beside a Gamecock football player!!!! GO COCKS!!!! I got to chat with him (which made my 15 year old son wish he had tagged along with his mom today). I was very impressed with this football player, a really nice young man!
